Default PO449, P0455, P0172, P0175 Codes: Fix = $1,635.00??

Gentlemen,

For 6 months now I have been driving around with the engine light on, getting the P0449 code. No issues with driving whatsoever, as you know.

However, I now find that it's impossible to pump gas, and the fuel nozzle keeps clicking off because the vent control is stuck and the vapors are coming up.

Anyway, I just received a quote for $1,600.00 and I'm wondering if this is BS and he's blowing smoke. I'm hoping I can fix for less, but this is what I received:

PO449 vent control circuit low and P0455 system leak. Vent control is stuck closed; recommend replacement first then recheck. (I did replace this but it did not solve the issues, and I still cannot pump gas).

Also has P0172 and P0175 code for system too rich - Banks 1 and 2.20% alcohol content present fuel, RECOMMEND: FUEL TANK ASSY AND FUEL PUMP/SENDING ASSY???

They say that there is NO air flow present out of roll-over valve or fuel sending EVAP valve.

Are those repairs necessary and if so, I need to research the part number and have a mechanic friend do it.

I would like to discuss, and any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

I just found this on this site:

Just got the truck back. They replaced the solenoid valve and four hose heaters (?) in the tank vent system. It had codes P0466 and P0455. They found a Mbulletin Doc#2292102 that pertained to the problem. Filled the tank w/o incident after fix.

I don't see why this wouldn't work for me; it's exactly the same issue.

So you can't look at post #2 on this thread?

Why the attitude? just because you say it could be the evap canister solenoid doesn't make it right, and I still need to look around. And it definitely doesn't mean I know that the you were talking about the solenoid valve.

Thanks for your help
