Default Posi Trac

I have a 89 K2500 4X4 that was just gifted to me from my father. After years of thinking it was true 4WD, he told me that it doesn't have posi traction (probably should have figured that out after burning through several tires doing 1 wheel burnouts when I was a teen). But I'm wondering what I would need to do to make it true 4WD, and true 2WD when normal driving? Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to trucks and I don't have much mechanical know-how.

People here really don't seem too helpful... I don't know much about this stuff but I'm pretty sure you can buy an aftermarket LSD(limited slip differential). I think you could also buy a mechanical locker, but I've heard that's not great for a daily driver. Good luck. I don't know why so many people see threads like yours and mine and don't help one bit.

It is not that difficult to put positraction in your K2500. With that being said it does cost and you should get it done by professional that knows what they are doing. You should be able to buy a posi unit for 6/700.00 depending on what you get and expect to pay mother 400/500 to get it installed and you only need it in the rear axle. Here are two links for companies that specialize in posi etc.
