Default Possible Coolant Leak

Hey guys,
I'm working on an '02 suburban with a 5.3 in it. The serpentine belt was chirping and seemed loose, so I put a tensioner on it, and it seemed to quieten it down. Well, at the same time I was fixing the belt, the low coolant light was on.The tank was slightly low, so I topped it off. Now it's low again, and I'm wondering now if the coolant wasn't getting on the belt and making it chirp. Do any of yall have any experience with this? Thanks

Sometimes coolant levels can take a couple of topping-off's before they stabilize depending on how low it may have got, there is also the possibility of a leak either internally or externally, give the engine a thorough once over for any sign of leaks.

Normally once a serpentine belt has begun to make noise it needs replaced, usually the cause of the noise is slippage (for whatever reason) which causes the belt face to become scorched and hard, this may lead to noise later (at best) or failure (at worst).

Check to see if the water pump is leaking.

any "abnormal" white smoke coming out your exhaust? if it lasts longer than it normally would on a cold moring, or smells sweet, it would b a good sign u have an internal leak. have u found any drips/stains on the pump (like golfer suggested checking)?
