Default Question on Radio/clock ! '89 Silverado

Last weekend my son and I took out the old cassette player and equalizer on my '89 Chevy pickup. We installed a new AM/FM CD PLAYER WITH AUX/INPUT. I like it all just fine and the installation went ok. Now my wife wants the clock to work on the old radio face. Question; can I wire the old clock straight to a fused ignitation wire or does it have to go through that radio box we took out from under the dash?
Thanks in advance for your comments and answers.

OH, Here is what the old radio looked like.

If you have any questions about the photo please don't hesitate to ask.

All you have to do is power up that control head and the clock will work just fine. It doesn't care if there is an amplifier in there or not.<O</O
