Default Clock Fix in NAV radio

Went to the dealer today and was told they had a fix for the missing clock in the NAV radio. They did the update, which was a software update with a CD. Clock seems to be working and the display is now bigger and easier to read. Hope I do not lose the clock any more...................

I have seen this happpen many times. Usually after replacing the radio or disconnecting the battery for any reason.I always tell costumer to driver it for a few days to re-aquire the gps signal as the radio gets the time from gps satellites. Have yet to see a return for this concern

Since when does the radio get the time from a satellite??? If that was the case, then why did I need to re-set the clock for DST??? Not to mention, the sats you pickup are likely not even in your timezone.

GPS doesn't adjust for DST. And, with a GPS signal, you not only find out position and altitude, but also time, usually GMT though..

Welcome to the Tahoe forum. I've never seen GMT displayed on my clock. And it certainly doesn't sync up with local time either.

Thanks for the welcome!I don't have a Tahoe (yet) so I don't know how the clock works in the GPS thats in the Tahoe. But, I was just trying to make it clear that a GPS does get GMT from satellites. Most GPS's, you sethow far off of GMT you are,and it gives you an accurate time. But,again, I have not delt with one in the Tahoe.
