Default Quick Question for any guys with a 89-99 Silverado or Suburban

So 1st off I am not 100% sure about the year range, I have a 1995.
But if your gas gauge looks like mine below, the quetion is for you!

~So when exactly is the low gas light supposed to come on?
I would assume when the needle goes below the smaller red line (to the right of the needle)
or is it supposed to come on when it goes below the larger red line on the left?

~And also, is it that gas pump symbol that is supposed to light up?

This is the lowest my tank has ever been and still the gas light has never come on.
So before I attempt to replace the bulb, I just figured I would ask.
thanks!

I have not had my 99 burb for a while now and don't remeber. But I do remeber that when my guage was that low and I put gas in, It still has like 4-5 gal. left. I did run it out of gas before (I meant to) and it went for a while on the red E line. But that was a 42 gal. tank.

My Silverado is a 1991 1500. I can tell you from experience that as soon as the needle gets to the position your picture shows, you have roughly 25-30 miles left maximum before you are out completely.

Yeah, mine doesn't have a fuel light either. Instead, it has an annoying little light that lights up every time it thinks I should shift. Dunno why the heck they put that in the 1991 Standard Transmission and didn't put a blasted Tach in the pickup to begin with. I've been meaning to put and aftermarket one in it for years now and haven't gotten around to it yet.

In all honesty, the shift light isn't bad, and is usually pretty accurate, I just don't need it because I've never driven or owned anything but manual transmission vehicles. I say it's annoying because when you're driving over a mountain, and have to shift down to maintain speed uphill, it lights up at the wrong times and just bugs you like a distraction out of the corner of your eye.

Must be '99.5, 'cause my '99 K1500 doesn't have a light either.
