Default Recalibration of Speedometer

Just swapped out the stock 245/70R17 with some 285/65R18 on my 2011 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab and my speedometer now reads 5 mph faster than actual speed. Is the dealership the only one that can reprogam the computer for the larger tires? Anyone know how much they charge?

We would be happy to ask our Technical Assistance Center about whether or not the dealership can do this; please send us a private message with the last 8 digits of your VIN (required for our documentation) and we'll look into this for you.

You can also buy a programmer and not only recalibrate your speedometer but do all kind of little knick knack things with your motor.

Default 7.5 RCX lift

I own a 2011 1500 2WD silverado I am looking to put a 7.5 RCX with 35 nitto and 18 gear alloy and I know little about lifts n general. My buddy told me that I would have to get my rear diff re-geared as well as my transmission modified and my speedometer would have to get recalculated. I am kinda unsure about lifting my truck now even though all this is cosmetical since I have 2wd. Does anybody know if ill have to do all this in order to put this lift on and how bad is wear on the actual truck in general?
