Default Replaceing the fuel filter

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 1500 z71 4wd 5.3L V8 and was wonder what i have to do to change the fuel filter. I have herd people say that i can just disconnect it and swap it right out. then i have read that you have to release the pressure on the fuel line in order to replace it. Whats the truth?

You can just disconnect the filter, but just crack the nut and then slowly back it off. The gas will drain out of the filter and lines so make sure you use a pan. You'll need a wrench for the filter and one for the line fitting. After the lines are loose pop them out of the mounting brackets so you can remove the filter bracket easily.

Yes two nuts on each side and it's loose. On my truck the bracket did not want to come loose for anything so i had to do a little tugging and pulling to get it to slide out, so if you can't get the bracket off don't worry about moving it back and forth to get it out.
