Replacing Stock Radio in 08 Silverado

Replacing Stock Radio in 08 Silverado
The radio in my 08 Silverado only works in the heat of day and I got a price for replacing with a new one from the dealer for $640+, so I got another from an 09 Cobalt off ebay .... Can someone tell me the process for removing the dash cover and radio? And, does the radio have to be "programmed or tuned" to match my XM components?
