Default Restoring Headlight Lenses on a 98 C-1500

When I got my 98 Silverado, the headlights (those quad style lights) were kind of foggy and a bit yellowish. Not good to look at, and not as bright as they should have been.

I decided to try and restore them. I started with 600 wet sanding, being VERY careful not to sand the chrome trim around the lights. I then moved up to 1500 wet sanding, making sure to use lots of water.

After the sanding, I used a rubbing compound I bought at a wood finishing store. It's basically a very fine pumice powder in a liquid. But, as far as I can see, any rubbing compound or polishing compound would work.

After that stage, I used Adams paint restoring polish, and the headlights are looking a heckuva lot better than they did. They are clear, and the yellow is gone.

I'm never satisfied, so I'm probably going to do a bit more polishing to get them as close to new as possible. The areas that are difficult are the areas where there is raised printing on the lenses, but I think that with a microfibre cloth, I should be able to do a pretty good job.

Just posted this in case anybody else is facing the same problem. Easy to do, and took me about an hour.
