Reverse Blows Turn Signal Fuse
Hi All,
I recently purchased a 96 Silverado - V6 5 speed 4x4 Short box/cab. When I had the shop swap my summer rims/tires for winter, my turn signals stopped working. When I replace the fuse, everything works perfectly. As soon as I put it in reverse, it blows the fuse.
I have already gone through the back half of the truck wiring harness...
- disconnected the tail lights
- disconnected the tow hitch lights
- disconnected to auxiliary LED lights (came with the truck)
- disconnected the entire wiring harness for the rear of the truck.
Each time I tested the reverse and it still blows the 20AMP fuse. I can pull the fuse and reverse then put it back in and the turn signals work (obvious but just in case
)
I'm lost for ideas on where to search next?
Has anyone else had this issue before? I'm getting annoyed with having to pull the fuse out each time I reverse.
Thanks!

Could there be a short in the switch that initiates the reverse lights? if so, where is that switch? I took the rubber off the shifter to see where it is on the transmission but I couldn't see it...
Do the wires go through the frame of the truck or on the outside in a bundle?

My 92 K1500 did the same exact thing by blowing the turn signal switch every time you put the truck in reverse, and a new reverse light switch from Napa Auto Parts repaired the problem for me. The switch screws into the left side of the transmission of mine, which is a 5 speed mannual.
