rust question
I have a 2000 Silverado that had the typical rust when I bought it. The visible part was the rocker panels, cab corners, and rear wheel arches. Of course there was also a lot underneath that you couldn't see. I was told that this was because the truck was parked on gravel. outside. So, assuming that is true, would the that problem still exist if the truck was parked on gravel under a carport? Also, would that same problem exist if the truck was parked outside on concrete? THANKS
The rust would not be from being parked on gravel or concrete, but from being DRIVEN on roads with salt in the winter, i.e. northern states, where the salt spray from the road ends up coating the frame and underneath of the vehicle. I've got a 2006 Silverado and a 1996 C1500 - both have spend their entire lives in Alabama, have always been parked outside, and neither have any notable rust on the frame, we have maybe one winter day every couple of years where they have to salt the roads.
