My truck shows this message occasionally. SOMETIMES, the lights will not illuminate on the 2WD/4WD switches and the switches themselves don't work. The truck still drives fine in 2WD.

If I shut the truck down, and restart it the problem goes away 99 percent of the time. I can then shift into 4Lo or Hi with no problem.

'05 with about 120,000. I bought it used last spring. Will change the transfer case fluid as part of normal maintenance but I'm fairly confident this will have zero affect on the displayed message, light and switches. That seems electric to me.

Any suggestions??

Have you replaced the switch? They tend to go bad lots of them have done exact same thing
