Service rear view camera

Service rear view camera
Good day,
I’m at a loss looking to see if anyone has had the same problem.
When I shift into reverse my screen goes grey and says service rearview camera, with that also my reverse lights don’t work.
ive checked wires, fuses, the camera itself, disconnected the battery, fiddled with the shifter, checked the back up bulbs and nothing seems wrong...any ideas??
