Default Shackles-- Opinions?

So I'd like to drop the back of my truck a few inches. Not exactly sure how much, but I want it to be level with, or hopefully just a little bit lower, than the front end. Right now the suspension is all stock, front and back. It's the '96 c1500 2wd (reg cab), so it's got that weird stance thing where the back end sits up a few inches from level with the front. I'm thinking a good pair of shackles (2-4 1/2 inches?) would do the trick. My question is 1- if I drop it that much (to be a little lower than the front) would I need to replace the shocks with a lowering set? And 2- What are the best brand of shackles to get? I've heard a few good names, but I can't find many people who have actually used them before. Any opinions welcomed. Thanks guys

Yes new shocks should be ordered, and the autozone/orielly brand is just as good as the name brand ones
