Im new here. Im from Sweden, so Im not so good at the language.
I have a problem with My Silverado-96 with the 350 vortec.
It runs bad, like missing ignition or running rich. Smoke black and when i put in the D it dies. Its also very hard to start when cold.
I have change the distubutor and rotor and igniton cables.
The oil smells gas and the fuel pump is running 10 sec after i turned of the ignition, when i trying to start it. Im not sure if this is normally or not.

I would be very thankful if someone could help me with this. This kind of engine is not so common in Sweden, so not so many you can ask.

Oh i forgot. I have also checked error codes, there was no codes. Kind of strange because the engine lamp is lightning sometimes.

 

there has to be a code in there. All of your symptoms sound like a Coolant Temperature Sensor problem that I had in my car like 15 years ago, but there should be a code for that.

 

Okay, i tought that was strange also. I thought it was some temp sensor also, because when i drove in the garage, and changed the cables and rotor it runned ok. But when i was gonna start the engine in the garage it runned like crap. And we have winter in Sweden now so its seems like the truck workes better when its cold outside. Because then when the truck stod outside for a day it runned better but was hard to start.
Im gonna check the error codes again.
