Default So what is the HD power package?

I have a 2004 silverado 1500 that I am ooking at selling. It has the HD package added onto it.

Could someone please tell me or put a site that explains this?

the HD package includes:

-a 6.0L engine vs. the usual 5.3L that chevy uses now in 1/2 tons
- beefier frame (.157-inch on the 1500 HD vs. .106-inch on a half-ton 1500) 1500 HD frame feels much stiffer.
-It is two-and-one-half inches lower than a 2500HD
-bigger brakes than a 1500 -- 1.4 inches thick on the 1500 HD
-approximately 3,400 pounds of load capacity available on rear axles.
-2500 springs and shocks
-and you can get the crew cab long box with the 1500hd but not the 1500

hopefully this helped but the big differences are mtr, frame, suspension.

The 1500HD uses the 8 lug bolt pattern versus the standard 1500 6 lug bolt pattern. A 2500HD frame is 2" taller, which is why the 1500HD and the 2500 non-HD sit lower, otherwise from my research the suspension is the same as the 2500HD. Basically a 1/2 ton frame with 3/4 ton suspension, rear end, and brakes. Because of the frame, the payload is less than a 2500HD.

You can also get the "crew cab" (four real doors) with the 6 1/2 foot bed. With the regular 1500, you can only get the dinky (4.5 feet) bed if you get the crew cab.

Huh. Well I have the 5.3L and only a 5 lug pattern. So I am curious if the frame is any different.

5-lug pattern with a 5.3L??

I think my 5.3L has six lugs (1500, non-HD).
