Default Starting problem k1500

Hello,

We have bought yesterday a silverado stepside k1500. When we drove home and went to the gasstation. When we restarted the enginge, the only thing we heard was the clicking of the solenoid and the gage of the battery meter went down to 9 volt when I turned the key. We went to a shop and asked for a starter battery, and then fired up the chevy. This morning it started like 5 times. Then this afternoon we decided to do a little trip, we stopped somewhere for 5 minutes. When we wanted to start up again... again the same thing, clicking of the solenoid but no starting engine. I mesured the battery, 12,6 v. Alternator 13,56 v... It's like something discharges the battery when we drive... or the chevy won't start when it's hot ?

Im thinking a bad ground that is wearing out your battery. I would start there first and check all your ground connections.

Are you still using the original battery? If so you need to do a load test on the battery.

Check all ground connections? Check the resistance between each ground point? Which are the most important?

No it's not the original battery. It's a Yuasa from 2008. What is the original battery or maybe a better one then the original?

When I turn the contact on, the voltage of the battery drops to 11,99 volt. When the contact is on, it consumes plus 3 amperes.

How can I do a load test?

thx

Take the battery to Autozone or Advance, they will check it for free.

I did a load test, hung a multi meter on the fully loaded battery, started the engine and the multimeter went down to 2,27 volts !!!

So replaced a new large battery, 100 Ah and 647 cca. It starts fine for now.

I am from belgium

Good. You would probably would have found out very quickly that the battery was failing once winter set in.
