Default Suggestions before long road trip.

I am taking the family from the SF Bay area to Socal for a Disneyland trip and I think I have a pretty put together "go box" of stuff needed incase of emergency. I have the basics and then some.

But I'd like to hear any suggestions anyone has before going on a decent road trip with the family. I have a 2005 Silverado 5.3 ext cab. I'll be getting the oil changed the week before. Spare tire/kit are ready to rock and roll too.

Check tranny fluid (engine warmed up with truck running)
check oil (with engine warmed up)
check coolant
check air filter
you could greese up your joints under the truck if you have a greese gun
make sure all the accessories are in your tire changing kit
flashlight
make sure cell phones are charged before heading off and you have your chargers
and don't forget the CD case!

When I go on road trips with my high mileage 'burb, this is what I pack:

jumper cables
small 12V air compressor
spare tire and jack
tool box with basic hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, cutters, ratchet set)
duct tape
zip ties
bungee cords
empty gas can
flashlight
handgun with extra clips (might be a problem in CA)
OBD2 code reader
voltmeter
tow strap
ATF fluid
engine oil
paper towels
