Superchips (or other) aftermarket programmer
I have been thinking of buying a Superchips programmer for my 2002 Silverado regular cab (4.8 liter engine), but I don't know if it will be worth the $500 price. Does anyone here have one of these?
How much difference does it make in performance, mileage, towing, etc.?

I don't intend to pay that if I don't have to. I looked at Ebay but didn't find anything that was less than $450, but I will keep watch. The flashpaq is what I will get.
Did it make a major difference in performance?

Very impressive changes, and the part I most liked is it is updatable. As technology changes the potential for the programmer to change is there. You can even use the Flashpaq for diagnosing and clearing engine fault codes and can monitor engine performance and then download it to your computer.
Thanks, I guess I didn't see that one. Have you tried programming for efficiency/mileage? How much difference would one make if you programmed for optimum fuel economy?
Personally, I have it programmed for performance, I don't think it will do a whole lot for economy, maybe a 1-2 mpg. Ultimately, it is still a 7k lb chunk of steel. I am planning on upgrading my gears to 4.10 to increase my gas mileage. The easier the engine is working, the sooner and longer it should be in 4 cyl mode. We'll see how that works out.
