suspension question
ok i have an 08 silverado and i was just curious of after how many miles should the shocks or front suspension parts be changed? my truck rides just a little stiff.not much. i wanted to know how to fix that problem. i mean just to get it riding like new again. what do i change or fix or lube or what? the truck has about 20,000 miles on it. any suggestions?
Generally accepted dogma is change shocks after 25,000 miles. Besides that there's your steering damper, but if your suspension's "stiff", that should be fine for the time being.
Short of accidents or serious off-road pounding, most suspension parts don't get changed out regularly unless they affect your alignment, or they wear out, when it should be obvious to the most casual observer.
You'll probably want to grease your steering rack and ball joints soon. What you call "stiff" could be unlubricated joints.

An 08 Silverado? You well within any type of suspension changes that should be needed. I don't see your shocks being the problem here, but you can get aftermarket shocks if your not satisfied with the stock ones.
At only two years old your truck should still feel "like new."

ok maybe i explained it wrong.my truck turns and rides good its just that when i hits bumps or so it feels like its not getting dampened enough.like something has to be lubed or tightened. its a little hard to explain.also how do i lube my steering rack and other parts?i only found one place that i could lube myself.
I'd have to disagree with river on this one.
I don't think you need to lube your rack, MAYBE your ball joints but not your rack.
To lube them all you need is a grease gun and of course, the right grease. Find the zerk fittings near the joints and give them a couple squeezes. That's IF they even need it.

Some ball joints and steering components don't come with grease fittings, the fittings have to be installed.(sometimes they're covered by a mound of greasy dirt) In some cases, the suspension joints don't even have a hole for the zirk fitting, and they need to be replaced with one that does.
To get at the steering components, you'll have to take off your skid plates.
Generally,(Technically, you're right, Deez.) you lube the steering rack at the same time you lube the ball joints. Sorry for the confusion.
If your steering just keeps getting sloppier and sloppier, you need to replace that POS OEM stabilizer.
