I was having a similar problem when I put on my Edelbrok Performer TBI manifold and it turned out to be the temp sensor next to the manifold gooseneck.
I don't think you have the same problem because mine did throw a code, but it acted exactly as you have described.

Yeah i thought thats what mine was but i replaced it already my temp gauge didnt work when my sensor went bad and it didnt throw a code. did your gauge work when yours went bad?

There are two temp sensors. The single wire one is for the gauge. The 2 wire one is for the computer. It sounds more like a fuel delivery problem then ignition but it had to be sure with out actually seeing the truck. You say the fuel pressure is normal but how fast does the pressure fall off when you turn off the key. If it counts back rapidly something is leaking down. Injector, regulator or the pump. Has anyone ever taken the t-body apart?

new update>>>>> i looked at my truck while it was running i noticed a drip coming from the fitting in the back of the throttle body now obviously this has to be fixed but does it have a oring? does the fitting on the throttle body have a gasket? my lines are not rusty so i will try to replace the gasket and/or oring. also where could i find this oring? is it special because of the gas pressure?
