hey guys,

i have an '06 silverado. automatic. and when i get out of my truck, there is a creaking/grinding sound and it seems to be coming from the underside. at first i thought it was because im too fat (262lbs) but then i figured that couldnt be it because its a big vehicle made for heavy duty work and stuff so it should be able to handle my weight. it kind of sounds like either rusty springs or just something grinding against something else. my friend suggested WD40 but he thought it was the door making the sounds. but then again he has never heard it making this sound. it started about i would say a week or so ago maybe 11 days. my truck is kind of high up and i dont have any nerf bars/running boards on it yet so i slide down the seat to get out of it if that matters. im wanting to know what you think is making that noise and how i could possibly fix it.

Is the noise only when you are getting out the truck or do you hear it while driving?

 

kinda sounds like it might be a ball joint but you would hear that when you are driving( slow through a parking lot going over speed bumps and things like that.)

 

its only when im getting in and out of the truck. and it doesn't happen all the time.
