Default Thin Paint on NBS 08?

I had an 03 before I got my 08. My 03 had 180k miles on it. My 08 with only 4k seems to have more nicks in the paint. Anybody else seeing the same thing?

The paint does seem to suffer alot on the new trucks, with my experience anyways. I've heard that with EPA regulations regarding the solvents used in the paint making process (with global warming and the ozone layer) they had to use paints that used less harmful materials which is a trade off for protection and hardness. I'm seriously considering spending $1500-2000 to have my entire truck Line-X'd.

That would not be a pretty sight. Plus Line-X fades.

The New Line-x is supposed to be pretty fade resistant (I would obviously check into that first) I know the original formula fades, the dealer I spoke with says he has his "freshened up" every 6 months because of fading. But the Line-X Xtra is supposed to be real good with U/V stability, and according to the site:

I just dont like that color, but given that that's a company photo and statements, gotta take everything with a grain of salt.

this is EuroGoldLS's dad's truck and it doesnt look bad at all, then again I dont know what brand liner that is: http://www.motortopia.com/files/9937...e/101_0572.jpg

Chevy knows about it, but won't do anything about it. Same with the dirt magnet fabric that covers the seats. I had waxed my truck tonight, and am not happy with the paint at all. My 02 has no where near the chips this truck does!

I've been using touchup, then 2-3 days later use a 3M polishing glaze (by hand) to take down the excess, it's a pain, and worse for me since I opted to not get the chrome bumper, and then painted bumper has a layer of paint that is ATLEAST 3 times thinner, and has no clear coat, it's pretty much brushed on.

Yup, paint on the new trucks arent very good. Ive got a friend who off roads his alot and he Ryno-lined his whole lower half of the truck. Looks good, adds contrast and protects from rocks and whatever else he runs over. No fading yet been a year and a half.
