Default torque converter

94 c1500 4.3 4l60e
put a trans out of a another 94 c1500. bolted up but the inspection cover won't go back on. did they make different size torque converters and if so why? the new one seems to be larger is that going to cause problems?

You could have a different stall convertor than what you had. Stall is the fluid stall on the edge of the rotor fins, that could be the physical difference. With that you probably ought to check part number on the old one, and replace with same. Why are you replacing the TC?

the tc came with the trans. mine is loaded with band residue but it was working fine.
old trans was slipping badly going into second but did work sort of.
didn't notice any tc size difference . the transmission going in supposedly had 15000 miles on a rebuild (before engine cratered) and came out of another 94 c1500 but don't know what size engine.
too old to do the work myself anymore. having to pay for the install.
if i'm lucky i have a 600 dollar install and trans. if not lucky i have a 600 buck anchor.

I'd get a "like" TC from either used or whatever. You are correct in not wanting debris in the new tranny. I've never had luck flushing a TC.

Those covers are matched to the transmissiion application. I suspect you're trying to put a 6-cylinder cover on an eight cylinder transmission case?

'Taint a gonna work.
