Tranny problems? 2000 chevy 1500
Howdy, I got a single cab 4x4 4.3l V6 1500 short bed. I put a new U-joint in and it needed it but that didnt resolve my problem, I can hear a rattling in the tranny and it sounds like a heat shield or skid plate but is NOT that. And the truck shifts rough into 2nd gear. Anyone got a disgnostic problem with it or and clues? Thanks

there are many things in the tranny that can cause a rattling. the shift solenoid controls how hard the tranny shifts.
The rattle could be torque converter, input shaft, an internal gear, or something might be touching the housing you just haven't noticed.

not always because your 1-2 shift is usually done at higher rpms than the 2-3 or 3-4 shifts. higher speeds and lower rpms make the odd shift less noticeable
