i have a 79 chevy k10 1500 with a stock tranny a guy gave it to me with 65000 miles on it i know it seems like nothin but the guy never drove it it came with a stereo system headers the works. it ran great until i tried pullin someone out that was burried in snow and when i was doin that my truck wouldnt move. now my truck doesn't go forward backward or wont go into 4wd. i am buyin a rebuilt turbo 400 for $100, but i wanna know if it is an easy fix to fix my old one so i can have a spare one if i were to need it for some reason please help. also when i took the tranny pan out the tranny filter was covered in clutch

 

Are you real sure that it's a 400 in a K10? Must be a big block engine?

its got a 350 small block my brother has the same truck and he has a turbo 400 in his with a 350 small block

Had a 76 with the same problem, key is it won't go into 4wd. My problem was the Xfer case not tranny. Problem there and tranny is disconnected from drive shafts.
