Trans leak

Cool Trans leak

noticed a trans fluid leak. dripping off the front u joint cup but isn't coming off the tail shaft seal. see no fluid on the drive shaft.dripping a drop every 30 seconds. if it's not coming out of the seal. where is it coming from?????

The yoke that goes inside the trans has a hole in the end by u-joint to allow air in and out as driveshaft moves in and out of transmission and the seal inside this yoke can fail and cause leak you are describing.

that's what it looks like. before i pull the drive shaft is this something i can fix? what do i need to fix it?

Look up in front of u-joint and see if you see what looks like a flat freeze plug. If so you can change this plug. If yours does not have the plug you may have to replace the yoke. You can also remove the whole driveshaft and take a look or take it to your favorite repair shop and get their advise. Pulling the driveshaft won't cost you anything as long as you are careful and don't let the u-joint caps come off on the axle end.
