Just went through all my fluids and when i took the drain plug out of the transfer case there wasnt much in there. I refilled it and drove a short distance and noticed it leaking! It looks like theres two little pin holes which one looks like already been jb welded! What caused this and how do fix it?

 

Caused by the oil pump housing rubbing against the case housing. Has to be repaired from the inside.

The "pump rub" problem has been around for some time now. Merchant Automotive sells a pump housing that is much thicker and it won't eat a hole in the case. I did mine about 10 years ago and have not had a problem.

 

Does it rub the case in 2 wheel drive? Or 4 wheel? Or both?

 

Anytime the output shaft is turning.

It should only take a couple hours unless you are an old fart like me. I spent about four hours on mine but then, I like to work slowly.
