I'm thinking of installing an external transmission filter since the internal one is referred to as a rock filter. I know Perma-cool sells an external trans filter kit, they only list 2 filters that work with that kit. What about using a remote engine oil filter kit and a regular engine oil filter? Would there be any problems with this? If I can do that then I'll only need to buy 1 kind of filter. Thanks.

 

You can and it does work well. However most adapters only use a select few filters and most are not metric...so you may still have to buy different filters...

I ran that setup on a 1 ton 454 turbo 400. i changed the filter every once in a while. I cut it open once and it did filter out very small particles...
