Default Transmission question

I have a 1500 pick up which has a manual transmission. After an unfortunate accident my front end was crumpled beyond repair
I have since aquired a 1500 with a blown engine which has an automatic transmission.

Is it possible to take the engine from the manual and drop it straight into the automatic?

Absolutely, all need need to do is put the flex plate from the auto trans engine on the good engine. The engine itself is the same.

Does the fact that the manual was a 95 1500 and the automatic is a 99 make a difference?
I have been told that the OBD system may be different. Can anyone verify this for me.

Im hoping its as simple as changing out the flex plate or the bell housing. Any help will be appreciated.

95 was throttle body 99 was multipoinf fuelinjection so you may need to swap out intakes and all the extra accesorys and EGR crap!

before you hop on doing what you plan on doing, read this:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=953243

not the 1st time i come across mismatching questions. consensus is - ECM must be able to recognize ALL of the powertrain components, backed by BCM. or it goes sour.

basically, which ever way you do swap, ECM needs to be swapped, and everything needs to be flashed at dealership to work. which i could show you another post, when flashing fried ECM in guy's truck, and now he litigates with dealership, as he DROVE IN, and ended with dead vehicle.
