Question Trim Removal

Has anyone removed their trim off a 90s style chevy truck? I want to know step by step how to do it and if it will peel my paint off with it? Any help appreciated

It's possible the paint may come with it on older trucks, but it's unlikely. Use a heat gun and just peel that sucker off.

you know i have seen a vid where you use either a 3m tape de-stickyfier or use wd40 and spray it on top of the trim, let it sit for 10 minutes then get a plastic spatula or something sturdy and get a micro fiber cloth and place it over the spatula and make it taught over the edge and slowly go into the trim and skin it off. or use wire. i know mine is just 3m tape behind the trim.

I took the trim off my truck the way cams 98 silverado says, and it still chipped the paint. One problem is the paint sucks from 88-95 because of the paint formula switch. I think you should be okay. Just be very careful. It won't look too bad if you do chip some paint. I'll post some pictures of mine so you guys can see. It leaves a line on the top and bottom of the trim.

Took ALL my trim off my 96 and helped y friend with his 98 we used 3m adhesive remover and just got the edge started, it left alot of the 3m tape on the truck so you have to use your thumb and rub the rest of it off. Matco tools makes a rubber tool that you use with a drill to remove the tape thats left behind, you just have to be carefull to not spin it too fast or press to hard or it will burn the paint. Just take your time, I did mine a piece at a time over a week or so just when i fealt like it. Good luck.

Make some strips out of packaging plastic about 8 to ten inches long. Start under one far edge, and saw your way through the glue.
