Default Truck will only run for 1 second.

I have a 99 Silverado with the 5.3 liter V8, auto transmission, tilt wheel. Ignition went out and I replaced entire steering column instead of buying ignition switch. Truck will not stay running. It appears the security system is shutting it off. Need help. Any ideas?

It sounds like a similar situation I had. Mine would crank up for about 2 seconds and shut right off. I had to get my computer re-flashed. But before doing that ask around because I would hate for you to go spend money on that and it not be the problem

To relearn theft deterent.try to start truck(starts and dies) leave key in on positon for 15 mins.approx security light will either go from flashing to steady then turn key off for 5 seconds after 3rd time of reapeting those steps passlock kode should be relearned and truck will start

Same thing happened to my '99 silverado. Check all the electrical pins that are underneath the fusebox under the hood. (Take the whole top part of the fusebox off to reveal the plug-ins underneath.) I found one pin the looked burnt. I bent it back and used a little dielectric grease and never had the problem since...

Some of the locksmiths can correct this. They have to use the computer and do the key recoding.

If what GNSPEED commented on, does not work, this will be your next best option.
