Default Need HELP! 97 Suburban Will Fire & Run for a Second then Die, Does this 3 or 4 times

97 Suburban will act like it is starting for a second then it will die. This will happen for 3 or 4 times and it will start and run great. Twice now after I have started it, withing the first couple of hundred yards it might die. But all you have to do is start it back up and be on your way. I just made a 1500 mile trip and it ran great and got 18 MPG, not too bad for a 4X4. One of the main issues I am going to have is this is a intermitant problem, for now at least.

Checked the fuel pump relay, cleaned the MAF and checked the sensor connection. Going to replace the fuel filter even though this is acting like an electrical issue.

Thanks in advance for any help!

You will need to check the fuel pressure...
if pressure looks good running and while off (no rapid bleed down) I would start looking at the delivery system regulator, injectors...

An inspection of the ignition system would also help, check cap for cracks, rotor for excessive wear, take a look at the plugs they should all look pretty much the same on the tips, dark maybe some light carbon build up but not black or oily..

Anybody know much about the crankshaft position sensor or ignition switch?

If it were the FPR then wouldn't it be running poorly all of the time. More than likely the fuel pump is either going to work or fail. I work with tractors for a living and the only time they will fail and start working again is when they get too hot, but as soon as they have time to cool off they will work again. It really seems like someone just shut the key off or told the computer to shut the fuel off. That is why I am thinking ignition switch or crankshaft position switch, these are known to go on this year!
