tuned port conversion
howdy y'all: I am in the middle of a TPI conversion, only because I had it ready to assemble. long story short traded for the K1500 with a bad Vortec, had a 327 TPI waiting in the wings to go into the Camaro Convertable. Now it is in the K1500. I am in need of information, I have the wiring diagram for a 1999 Vortec, does the 1997 use the same wiring on the CPI as the 1999? I need to know which wires go where, (oh, I am using the stock Vortec ECM "reprogramed By Westers") this promises to be way cool!! I will post pictures later. or does any one have the injector diagram for the 1997?
conversion specs
1969 327 0.030 over
comp 12-262-4 cam
1986 Camaro TPI system w/19lbhr Ford designIII injectors
1986 TPI heads "1.84 intake valves"
ECM reprogramed by Westers of Canada
everything else stock Vortec
designed to be finished at 6k rpm and deliver excelent MPG

I will be using the polished valve covers, and hope to polish the upper plenum. I was looking my specs over the other day, and well, the engine shop had a major SNAFU. instead of 9.5:1, it is at 12.1:1, just a minor/MAJOR problem! but Westars said that they could fix it so I can run premium fuel and not have issues, crap dude, I wanted to run EL-cheapo fuel. hey maybe I can play with water injection. i was wanting to play with twin turbos an water but

Howdy again well It lives go here ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/tinbend...7624614134332/ ) to see it. preliminary results are torque is to hi in the range for my hopes, but workable since it is a 4X4 "low range will compensate nicely". the balancing was well worth the money. Sounds great, pulls good after 1500r's, any one got any input on advancing the cam. I'm not sure it is worth going into the motor again??? I cant find my copy of desktop dyno to run the numbers. I am wondering what 4,6,and 8 degrees of advance would do fo the low end? and millage, I once advanced a 350HP 327 cam 8 degrees in a SB400, wow what a launch, it would pull the front tires 8 to 10 inches in an El Camino, millage kinda sucked

thanks! still working out small stuff, hope to drive her to work soon (100 miles round trip) and start getting real numbers to post. for those of you in the city, understand it is 4 lane all the way, 70mph, and 3 stop lights, "in Kansas" takes 45 min one way. LOL that is the LIFE

finally got the blasted thing running right, "a word of caution" always and I say "always" check and recheck the wiring, I had the IAC stepper motor and the TPS wired backwards, due in large part to GM making sure that us shade tree mechanics dont do what I just did. they changed polarity on the wires!! go figure, the Vortec had, say on the blue with white striped wire the positive feed, and on the Tuned Port the same color config was the negative feed. SH.....tuff don't work to well backards.
the next major issue is I GOT THE WRONG CAMSHAFT!!! dadburnit!!! no lowend!!! things get crazzy after 2200, so now I am going to advance the cam 4 more degrees, to see if it will help until I can take her down to replace the bump stick grumble grumble. oh that will bw 8 degrees total any thoughts, maybe someone with a program that could run a sim for me???

new question
I have a question. on the Vortec ECM's is the knock sensor so sensitive that it will retard timing and fuel if the rockers are rattling a little? I have not got to the final set on the lifters yet.
