Default turbo 350 insight

i have no reverse in my turbo 350 but i am pretty sure i have first still. Just wondering if anyone out there could tell me if i tear apart the bottom of my transmission if i could tell if i just lost reverse or both first and reverse. or if i lost my gear inside. also how hard it is to do a shift kit.

If you have no reverse, you need a rebuild. Reverse is always the first to go. A shift kit isn't difficult. After you fix the trans.

Don't do it yourself. I rebuilt a TH400 when I was 17 for a friend. Wasn't easy, and it was in a strictly offroad Blazer. Still going strong, but doesn't shift right. I got luck I think. I watched a few videos, and had 3 different books in front of me. I suggest buying a new one, or getting yours rebuilt. Look on www.jegs.com they have some pretty good prices on built trans, and have shift kits in them.

Your outta luck on the shift kit fix. Trust me, I understand transmission woes. I've blown/burnt up 13 trans total... Before I was 19.

i love working on th400's. hardest part of that trans are teh snap rings lol. like 4 rings and its gutted. but as for the loss of reverse, yea time to tear down and put new parts in. when your putting it together is when you wanna do a shift kit. that or buy a built one and they come built for power and shift nice.
