when you shift into the forward gears, do you feel the shifter stop in each gear, or does it stop at neutral? it could be the linkage off.

vacuum line to modulator hooked up, plenty of fluid, clean filter? did you let tranny run at idle for 20 minutes or so? if trans was empty when put in, it might take a bit for pump to fill the entire system. converter will suck up alot of fluid, plus cooler lines, rest of system.

typically only one. it runs into a small canister. should be easy to see. if memory serves, it's towards the back of tranny, canister about 2 maybe 2 1/2 inches. if you're not sure about the condition of filter, i'd definetely change it out. filter kit cheap. comes with filter and gasket usually. good luck, keep us updated.

i check the fluid it is good the shifter linkage is still a little loose but i cant get it any tighter. the filter is newer so i dont think that is the problem. when i shift into reverse it grabs but when i shift into drive you can hear it try to grab but it doesnt completely grab. does anyone have any ideas or would it be an internal problem?
