It's possible, but A TON of work. and MONEY! You would be better off trading it in on a 4wd truck

No offense, but it's a poor idea. It would void your warranty, and cost more than it's worth.

It's a situation, unfortunately, where the expression "the sum is the total of all the parts" is untrue. They purchase and assemble much more inexpensively at the factory than you can do at home. Parts are much more costly in the aftermarket than with the manufacturer. You would need to spend more than the combined parts/labor(even if you provide the labor) value's worth. Even if you've done it before, it's not a simple job.If you did succeed, this retrofit wouldn't be warrantied.

My vote's also trade the 2WD if you have need of 4WD. Sometimes an alternative, (like a good power winch) is less costly and more effective. It depends on your personal circumstances.

How do you normally use your truck ?

Oh ok, thanks for the responses. And I usually use my truck for work and daily commuting. I also go up to the snow alot to snowboard, which is one of the reasons I was thinking about getting the 4wd. I regret not getting it when I bought my truck. I also like to go offroading a little bit, (haven't done it in this new truck yet) so thats another reason I kind of wanted to get a 4x4 so I wouldn't get stuck. But I guess I will have to/should just get a different truck all together which comes standard with its 4x4. Kind of sucks but oh well.

I think if you just added up the cost of the parts to do what you are considering, you would re-think it. It would be outrageously expensive, especially since you have a pretty new truck and would use new parts I am assuming.
Does your truck have the locking rear end? That helps in the snow. Its not 4wd, but will help BOTH back tires grab instead of just one. I agree with the winch idea too. Snow chains or studded tires will probably keep you from getting stuck in most circumstances.
If you want to go off-roading, have you considered taking that money you would spend on making your truck 4wd and buy an old 4x4 just for that? That way you wont be as upset when you tear something up when off road (and you will) and your daily driver wont be out of commission...
