If you've ever driven a4cyl S10, you have a good idea. Its very weak for the Silverado.

I've owned two s-10 two wheel drives with the 4.3litre v6 and loved the trucks and motor especially, they have I believe 195hp and are tyried and true, IM not sure how much power they would offer for a 4x4 silverado or s-10?

We use a 2001 chevy with a 4.3 to tow a 1500lb trailer and it kind of lags. If you will be using it to tow you may want to consider getting a v8. The 4.3 engine is very strong. Even with the 4x4 you should still have enough power. However after having it for a while you will probably want the power of a V8.
