What, if any Duramax's are 50 state emission leagal
Hi, I found a nice Duramax that is not in California and am considering purchasing it. Then I remembered about California's smog law. Does anyone know if any or all the Duramax's are 50 state emission legal? I am looking for the least amount of trouble getting a vehicle registered in California and wonder what it would take to get it smogged if it is not 50 state legal.
Thanks!

Well, if it is anything like the deal with the commercial truck diesels, a Dmax at a minimum would have to be one with the DPF filter. So that puts it at around 2007 or newer. Not sure if there is a time limit on that like the commercial stuff. I am pretty sure on the commercial trucks, they would have to be variety that have both SCR/DEF and DPF. CARB has really created a mess out there. Might want to get onto CARB's website and see if they have some guidance.
The emissions sticker under the hood has to say California , not just federal or you can't even license it in the state. I don't know what year they started smog testing diesels, but be VERY sure before you buy one...they have no mercy!
