We have a 77 full size w/350 motor that we use just for plowing,and it calls for ac plug r44tx. I wanted to go a bit hotter plug,am I ok to go with a r45ts,cant find the 45 tx at parts store. What is the difference between the ts and tx. This truck is very hard on plugs,could be that it only gets run a couple hours each year,and i am having a heck of a time with the gas,,it has remote tank and it picks up a lot of water,alcohol,whatever it is seperated from the gas,,I dont think this helps the plugs either.

 

I would drain all the old gas out of the tank and make sure the tank is clean and free of water. I would refill the tank and use the proper amount of a good fuel stabilizer. a set of fresh plugs with this combo should do the trick. also a can or two of gas line anti-freeze will go a long way in disipating any moisture or water in the system. IMHO hotter plugs is just a temp solution. Sounds like stale fuel and water to me.
