Hello all:
I have a friend that somehow has bent the rear axle on her 2013 Sonic 4 dr. hatchback. My guess is that she backed over a high curb in her apartment parking lot. Local Chevy dealership has determined that it is only the axle that is bent. They are estimating about $1400 (parts plus about 4 hours labor) to replace the unit and do an alignment. I have located a used rear axle assembly (actually located several) from salvage yards. The salvage yard says the axle is from the Sonic sedan but that it will fit the hatchback. My question is, are the hatchback and the sedan rear axles the same? I can do the removal and replacement but just did not want to buy the rear axle and find it will not bolt up.
