My daughter has spent upwards of $3000 on her used Chevy Sonic since she purchased it in September of 2019.
Last month her Check Engine light came on with her engine running very rough. She took it to our local Meineke Car Care, that we have used for years. They diagnosed and replaced her spark plugs/tune up, catalytic converter with integrated exhaust manifold, and cleaned fuel injectors and intake valves. Her car drove much better and seemed fixed.
This past weekend , 2/27/21, her engine light came on again. Took back to Meineke. They checked the engine code and told her that she needed a front catalytic converter replacement. Reset light and said it would be safe to drive.
please note: this is after her engine water pump with coolant leak was replaced on 12/27/2020.
My questions: are there two catalytic converters on a 2015 Sonic? Does anything sound "off" about the work already done?
Can she drive the car with a malfunctioning catalytic converter?
