I own a 2006 chevy aveo with 170km of relatively good driving on it and recently I've experienced a pretty big issue.

Initially the problem was that, occasionally, when I turned the car on I would find that pushing on the accelerator pedal would have no effect on the engine. I would shut the car off, turn it back on and the problem would be gone.

Last night I found the same issue happened, however at an intersection I could feel the car idling rough and when I went to accelerate through the light I found the pedal was again ineffective.

I pulled over and tried the pedal when it was in a gear disconnected from the transmission (park and neutral) and found that it would rev just fine, but in drive it had the same effect. Again, I turned the car off, waited, and on again to find it drivable.

Any suggestions aveo owners?

Throttle body problem? Gas pedal assembly?

 

Any cel codes?
