Default Sonic versus the Hyundai Accent

There has been some discussion about the merits of the Sonic versus the Hyundai Accent over at the Hyundai forums and Edmunds. In essence, people have been saying that the Accent is simply a better overall value than the Sonic. Now, I have no horse in the race here but it just strikes me as strange to hear that given my impression of the Accent but you tell me.

The Hyundai is a far better car. Hyundai has come a long way. It will run with less problems for far longer than a low end GM car.

My problem with Hyundai, is parts availability... daughters boyfriend has a Tiburon, and some parts have been a bear to find local.. most have to be ordered via the dealer and even then are not stocked local..

I have been kicking around the idea of getting a beater so I can keep the Tahoe in the garage and miles off... and was considering the Cruze and the Sonic.. but the wife said NWIH was I getting the Sonic.. too small she says...
Want the Volt but at that price I could dang near get another Tahoe !

Thanks guys for the answers.

@in2pro: I think the point you make about parts is something that merits consideration and I haven't heard it brought up before.

We have never had any problems get Hyundai parts from aftermarket suppliers.
