Timing Belt Warning Issue for all Aveo Owners
I have an 04 Aveo and the tlming belt let go the first time at 57,000 miles and I just had it replace again at 115,000 miles. Has anyone had the same problem? I had to get the General Attorney's office get involved the first time so I could get reimbursed the $1600 it cost. Has anyone collected twice. I can't afford another $1600

Did they laugh at you and tell you that is just a scheduled maintenance item?
Belts don't last forever.
timing chains stretch also...ask anyone with a 3.6 who extend their oil change interval.
early aveo were crap bombs. 2009 and later had updated timing belts that had longer intervals.
better belts kits are now available for older models if they survived the original belt. for anyone with a 08 or older...replace the belt, both idlers and water pump when you in there or you will be sorry.

sad thing was some belts didn't even make the first service interval...but luckily still had powertrain warranty.

walk away from this car. its a dud. for $2000 get a ecotec cavalier or cobalt. they will run forever, have way more power, parts are inexpensive and will get way better fuel mileage.
I did not know the car had the timing belt instead of a chain. It is still running strong. The only thing I have replaced was the exhaust flex pipe @ 75,0000 miles. The replacement interval is almost an afterthought by the way it reads in the owners manual. It's been a great and reliable car but I wished I had gotten something in the mail as a reminder.
