My 2007 chevy silverado only had 40 000 miles on it when Tranny went out. I know its a couple of years out of warranty, but you would think they would stand by their trucks. Find a different dealership. Better yet go with a tundra. 7 year warranty on those trucks

that's a federal mandated emissions warranty that all manufacturers must adhere to. It does not cover your transmission or powertrain components.

Default hello tech

Thanks for the info. I am just curious. THe dealership told me that if i had them change the trans. fluid at some point, then they would have been able to help me. Not sure if they are saying they would have done more to help me or it would have made the tranny last more than 40,ooo miles. Im not a mechanic by any means. Thanks for your input.

the automatic transmission rebuilders association says that 80% of transmission failures are due to lack of maintenance.
The first service being the most important. It removes 80% of the debris that circulates in a trans throughout its service life. Change your fluid or change the transmission.
Fluid wears out and gets dirty. Fluid life is temperature dependant. If you tow or drive in a hot climate, the service interval is much shorter. Unfortunately, few people can be convinced to service it.
