Default 0% Oil Life detunes engine?

My son said when his 2006 trailblazer got to 0% oil life it would go into a cripple mode, shift points changed to low performance and engine lost pep especially on the highway. I laughed it off. Until this week when my 2007 Tahoe did the same thing at 0% oil life. His was more noticeable with a smaller engine, my V8 seemed to be at 80-90% and the detunehardly noticeable mainly ran a little rougher.

Had a Vette in the past that had a computer system from the Star Trek Enterprise, AND itdid all that and more. Controlling engine, suspension, human error, performance.

So has the Vette technology migrated to the rest of the product line? Change your oil or we're cuttin back on engine performance so the engine doesn't get ruined?

Oh yeah, Had the oil changed yesterday andperformance ISback to normal.
