Default 04 Tahoe AWD

Ijust bought my 2nd Tahoe. I have a few questions. Mine has what appears to be AWD with 4 wd lo. I see no other location to go into 4 wd high. With this type system does it go into 4wd hi automatically when in snow? How is it driving in snow versus manually engaging 4wd?

just means it's full time all wheel drive. the low setting is just for low range. the only real downside is wear and fuel mileage.

well you just have 4 wheel drive all the time in AWD, but I would not drive in AWD all the time either. some say it's bad for the truck on dry roads; but it does not go in 4 AWD automatically. I would use 4 high to be on the safe side when in the snow. if climbing very slippery hill use 4 low about 25 mph. if your stuck in the snow use 4 low. normal driving ( dry road 2 wheel drive, heavy rain AWD.

When shifting to any hi, low or AWD gear make sure you put the truck in neutral first going about 5mph coasting, then press the button for hi, low or AWD. you hear a clunk. that is the gear shifting to your selection.

If your stuck then by all means shift from a dead stop . Other wise use the neutral method I mentioned above. GM advises that.

AWD is RWD until slippage is noted and then it shifts to 4WD Hi. If it's like my wife's 2004, then it doesn't have a 4WD Hi selection.

Default Awd

Mine has three buttons, a neutral, 4lo and what I guess is AWD. There is no 4wd high button. when I press the neutral button the dash light up that stabiltrac not engaged or something like that and a yellow light glows on dash. MY question is what button do I press when driving in snow to get it to function like 4wd high for normal snow driving, also what is the neutral button for?

AWD is what you need for driving in the snow. Neutral is for when you're towing it...it puts the transfer case in free spin mode.
