Hi all,
One of my overseas friend has a problem with his Tahoe that he brought back to his country.
His brakes are seizing up when he drives the car for a long time with the AC on.
The car won't move until the brakes cool down.
He replaced the pads, wheels sensors, bled the brake system but nothing works.
The ABS module seems to be working fine also.
What could be the problem? bad calipers? bad brake booster?
Any comments would help.

Running the AC would have nothing to with it, sounds to me like perhaps the calipers aren't retracting as they should and they are allowing the pads to contact the rotors and cause the overheating.

 

I agree, could be that the calipers are locking up. Does it happen to all of the brakes or just one?

Also could be the brake hoses. When they get old, sometimes the inner liner starts to peel away, drops down, and acts as a check valve so that the pressure is not released when you release the pedal. But I'd check ifwechoose's idea first which is easier. And cheaper.

 

It is happening to all calipers when the car has been running for a long time.
It doesn't happen on every trip but still occasionally.
The brake hoses seem OK.
Any other ideas?
